NEW YORK (CNN) — United Airlines is still scrambling to fix computer issues a day after a glitch briefly grounded its entire fleet, canceling at least 20 flights.
An internal memo from United to its employees and obtained by CNN said that the company is having “lingering issues” as it works to get all the systems back to full working order, and warned that “employees may encounter some problems with a few systems.” United said it will cancel some domestic flights “help with the recovery process,” and will try to operate as many of its international flights as possible.
The airline did not immediately respond to request for comment from CNN.
Connectivity problems with its computer system grounded all United flights for more than an hour Wednesday morning, and caused travel problems for passengers whose flights were delayed and canceled as well as for those who missed connections.
According to flight tracker FlightStats, United canceled 39 flights and had nearly 1,500 delays on Wednesday, roughly twice as much as the day before. The memo said United expects to cancel more flights in addition to the 20 that were scrapped Thursday morning, “after we further evaluate the impact of our full network.”
Shares of United Continental, which owns United, traded higher Thursday after losing nearly 3% Wednesday.
