UCPD said that “the District Attorney will evaluate the case” and if the DA issues a warrant, they will “immediately pursue the suspect’s arrest.” UCPD did not name the suspect in its statement. Earlier on Tuesday UCPD spokesman Nicolas Hernandez told PJ Media via email: “As of right now there are no updates on the Sproul Plaza Case.” UC Berkeley Vice Chancellor Dan Mogulof announced on Friday that UCPD had identified a “potential suspect” in the case who was “not a student at or affiliate of the university.” Conservative activist Hayden Williams was brutally assaulted last Tuesday while recruiting for the conservative non-profit organization Turning Point USA. 7am – A         Virginia first lady under fire for handing cotton to African American students on mansion tour. (Washington Post) –  A Virginia state employee has complained that her eighth-grade daughter was upset during a tour of the historic governor’s residence when first lady Pam Northam handed raw cotton to her and another African American child and asked them to imagine being enslaved and having to pick the crop. “The Governor and Mrs. Northam have asked the residents of the Commonwealth to forgive them for their racially insensitive past actions,” Leah Dozier Walker, who oversees the Office of Equity and Community Engagement at the state Education Department, wrote Feb. 25 to lawmakers and the office of Gov. Ralph Northam (D). “But the actions of Mrs. Northam, just last week, do not lead me to believe that this Governor’s office has taken seriously the harm and hurt they have caused African Americans in Virginia or that they are deserving of our forgiveness,” she wrote.

8am – A         INTERVIEW – HAYDEN WILLIAMS – Leadership Institute Field Representative

  • Conservative activist Hayden Williams was brutally assaulted last Tuesday while recruiting for the conservative non-profit organization Turning Point USA at UC Berkeley. Video footage of the altercation shows a man wearing a black shirt and pants angrily accosting Williams, a campus representative for the Leadership Institute. The assailant shouted obscenities at Williams, knocked his phone out of his hand, and punched him in the face. He accused Williams of “encouraging violence” just before laying into him. The man punched the conservative several times, causing injuries to his face, including a black eye and bloody nose.
  • UC Berkeley Police Seeking Felony Warrant from DA for Suspect in Assault on Conservative. (PJ Media) — Following a week-long investigation, the University of California Police Department (UCPD) announced Tuesday evening that it is seeking a felony warrant from the Alameda County district attorney for the identified suspect in the February 19 assault of a conservative activist on campus. UCPD said that “the District Attorney will evaluate the case” and if the DA issues a warrant, they will “immediately pursue the suspect’s arrest.”
  • Hayden Williams on the incident: I am a field rep for the Leadership Institute and I help train conservative students on college campuses across CA. (Recruit new members and train groups that support conservative values). Last Tuesday I was invited by a conservative group to come the Berkeley campus and help recruit new members.  Somebody took offense to our sign that said “Hate Crime Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims” and said that we were promoting violence. This student and his friend came up to our table erratically and abruptly, which prompted me to start filming for my safety. When I started recording, one of these people knocked my phone out of my hand and flipped over our table then proceeded to tear up our signs and assault me personally. While this was happening, he threatened to shoot me in the middle of Campus. I tried to record the whole thing, but he smacked my phone multiple times. The last time I went to pick it up he started yelling racially charged epithets in my face and then threw a haymaker right after I looked down at my phone. I filed a police report with the UC Berkeley police and I do hope they take it seriously but I’m not optimistic that they will. Over the last few years, there have been several assaults of conservatives at Berkeley – these have been covered by the CampusReform.org. Berkeley has a long track record of not defending conservatives on campus, despite its history of being “home of the Free speech movement.” The person who assaulted me is being hailed as a hero by campus community, many people are told not to snitch on the him. That’s how hostile campuses are to conservatives. People think it’s totally justified to violently attack conservatives because they disagree with their views.”

8am – D         Financial Blacklisting: Chase Bank Withdraws Service from Independent and Conservative Figures. (Breitbart News) – Chase, one of America’s big four retail banks, has withdrawn service from a number of conservatives in recent weeks, amid a rise in financial blacklisting by payment processors and credit card companies. Martina Markota, a video host for the conservative news website Rebel Media, reported on social media that Chase sent her a letter earlier this month stating that it would terminate service to her business, Magnum Opus Productions LLC, which is linked to her graphic novel, “Lady Alchemy.” Chase did not give a reason in the letter for its decision to terminate Markota’s account.

8am – E         INTERVIEW – MIKE LINDELL – The MyPillow Guy and executive producer of the new prolife film “Unplanned”

  • MPAA Gives Pro-Life Film R-Rating. Producers claim politics influenced rating in former Planned Parenthood worker’s pro-life biopic. (Washington Free Beacon) – A pro-life film has been given an R-rating despite the absence of nudity, sex, violence, or curse words and filmmakers are convinced it’s the message that led to the prohibitive rating. Unplanned is a biographical film about the life of Abby Johnson, the former Texas Planned Parenthood manager who has gone on to become a pro-life activist. The film details her conversion and, while depicting the abortion process, it is short on any sort of graphic scenes. That is why filmmakers were surprised when the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) handed the film an R-rating. Producer Daryl C. Lefever said the rating, which restricts audience members below the age of 18 from attending without a guardian, would curtail the potential viewership of the film, and suspects the film’s pro-life message played a part in the decision. “We really thought we had made a PG-13 film,” Lefever said in an email to the Washington Free Beacon. “There is no violence, no nudity, no sex, no profanity, and the only violence takes place in the womb, which most Hollywood folks don’t think is a person.” An MPAA spokesman denied that politics played any role in the decision to give the film an R-rating. He emphasized that the rating is not meant as an endorsement of any political position, but is there to inform parents about age appropriate content for children. The rating encompasses more than what is depicted on-screen—such as drug use or sex or violence—and can instead reflect the thematic content of the picture, in this case abortion.
