Sen. Graham After CIA Briefing on Khashoggi: There’s a ‘Smoking Saw’ Implicating MBS (FOX News)
Republican Senators Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.) said the CIA left little doubt that Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) was complicit in the murder of activist and writer Jamal Khashoggi.
CIA Director Gina Haspel briefed two Senate committees on Capitol Hill Tuesday on the CIA’s findings about the murder of Khashoggi.
“There’s not a smoking gun, there’s a smoking saw,” said Graham, adding that anyone who would deny bin Salman’s involvement at this point is “willfully blind.” [Read More]
By way of background, we covered the anti-speech machinations at the University of California at Berkeley last year pretty closely — from the riots, to the exorbitant, mandatory, and unevenly-applied security fees, to the discriminatory, speech-squelching limitations imposed upon conservative groups. Free expression on campus is an issue close to my heart, so I’ve been following the situation at Berkeley with great interest. Although I oppose government micromanagement of speech codes and the like, I’ve argued that if state universities refuse to safeguard fundamental constitutional rights, the government does have an interest to intervene. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office is expected to file a sentencing memo for former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn on Tuesday, which will contain the special counsel’s recommended sentence. The memo is also likely to lay out the extent of Flynn’s cooperation with the government after he admitted last December that he lied to the FBI about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
Beyond illuminating the extent of Flynn’s cooperation with Mueller, the memo could provide a window into what the special counsel has found so far in its probe, which began in May 2017.[Read More]
