UPDATE (WMAL) – Friday afternoon Fairfax County Police provided an update on the arrest and said a grand jury indicted Megan on two counts of first degree murder Thursday.

Maj. Ed O’Carroll said detectives determined early on that the scene inside the house where the bodies were found was staged to look like a murder-suicide.

When asked why police told the public it was a murder-suicide in 2017 even though they determined it wasn’t, O’Carroll said, “An investigative strategy is to find the person that’s responsible for a double murder is of utmost importance.”

O’Carroll added he was thankful that detectives followed up on every lead and said the investigation remains active.
