Washington (WMAL) – An intruder attempted to enter Fox 5 DC’s office building on Wisconsin Avenue in the Friendship Heights neighborhood of Northwest Washington D.C. and was shot by an armed security guard on Monday.
Police said the suspect was unarmed, and entered the building by kicking through the first of two glass doors, forcing his way into the building’s lobby. The shooting occurred in the lobby, with the security guard firing a single shot into the suspect’s upper torso, police said. Police have identified the suspect but have not released his identity.
He was taken to The George Washington University Hospital, alive, and is currently in stable condition, police said.
An investigation is currently ongoing.
I just left work a bit ago — and JUST switched shifts this week, otherwise I would have been in the building during this. So scary to hear the news. Glad my colleagues are safe. I can’t imagine the trauma the security guard has been through with this ordeal. #FOX5DC https://t.co/2RAJ6iWF1w
