Kyrsten Sinema’s anti-war activist past under scrutiny as she runs for Senate (CNN)
Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema’s past ties to far-left groups are resurfacing as she campaigns to win Arizona’s Senate race against her Republican opponent, Rep. Martha McSally. Sinema is running on her Congressional record as a hawk on military spending and defense, proclaiming in an ad she would do “whatever it takes” to keep America safe and boasting that she fought for “billions for military spending.”
CNN host Don Lemon on Thursday invoked Kanye West’s deceased mom to castigate the rapper’s Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump, saying she was “rolling over in her grave.”
West, who was wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, sat with Trump at the Oval Office desk and chatted in front of reporters and photographers for more than 10 minutes, praising the president and saying the cap made him feel like Superman.
The music artist and entrepreneur was invited to the White House for lunch with the president, former NFL star Jim Brown, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and top adviser. Manufacturing, prison reform and gang violence were all topics on the afternoon’s agenda.
West’s performance didn’t impress Lemon, prompting him to rant on CNN for several minutes about how West was embarrassing himself and that he needed to get help. [Read More]
Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson sounded off on Kanye West‘s visit to the Oval Office.
Dyson began by reacting to West’s efforts to bring Colin Kaepernick to the White House and sit down with President Donald Trump, saying it “doesn’t make sense.”
“This is such a blitzkrieg of blathering ignorance on one level,” Dyson said to MSNBC host Ari Melber, “and I say this as a man who loves Kanye West, who admires his genius, and who considers him a friend. But I beg him, I plead to him- Kanye, cease the interventions through media of trying to engage issues in which you don’t have sophisticated comprehension and knowledge.” [Read More]

It seems one result of weeks of aggressive protesters hounding Senators in the halls of Congress is that the Senators have become pretty adept at responding to bad faith comments like this one.
Tuesday of this week, Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana was confronted by a pair of protesters, one of whom demanded an apology. This protester wasn’t content to ask for an apology for herself, instead, she demanded one for her children who were sitting quietly in a stroller. [Read More]
