The Latest: Committee To Look Into Second Woman’s Accusation

Senate Judiciary Committee staff say they will look into a report that a second woman is accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.

Judiciary spokesman Taylor Foy says Republican committee staff found out about the claim when The New Yorker reported that Deborah Ramirez says Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a college party.

The New Yorker piece says Senate Democrats have been looking into the allegations. Foy says Democrats “actively withheld information” from the Republicans and “it increasingly appears that they are more interested in a political takedown than pursuing allegations through a bipartisan and professional investigative process.”

Foy said the committee is also looking into comments by lawyer Michael Avenatti Sunday that he represents a woman with information about high school-era parties attended by Kavanaugh.
