WASHINGTON — It’s often been said that D.C. – at least the federal bureaucratic part of it – has no sense of humor. But that myth (or reality?) is about to be put to the test.
The Professional Bull Riders Organization is coming to the area with a competition next month, and it’s advertising the event with a creative ad campaign on 250 Metro subway cars and 18 stretch Metrobuses in the city.
The ads depict the head of a bull in from of the Capitol dome, along with the slogan, “And You Thought This Town Couldn’t Handle Any More Bulls#*t.”
“We wanted to cut through some of the clutter as good marketers, but we also thought we’d have a little fun tounge-in-cheek will all that’s going on in our country today,” said Professional Bull Riders CEO Sean Gleason. “It’s not a political statement. It’s something we can use to cut through and hopefully get fans out to experience what is one of the fastest-growing sports in America,” he added.
The PBR event will be held at Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax September 22nd and 23rd.
“I haven’t seen any negative feedback at all,” said Gleason. “Everybody’s entitled to their own opinion, I guess as to what is appropriate or inappropriate.”
And that’s no bull.
