SILVER SPRING, Md. – Authorities in Maryland have released body-camera video of a police officer fatally shooting a man who he says attacked him.
One of the videos released Wednesday by Montgomery County Police showed Officer Anand Badgujar running and walking through a neighborhood after Robert White, a 41-year-old black man from Silver Spring. As Badgujar continued his pursuit, he mentioned that the situation might be “a suicide-by-cop thing.”
The two reached an apartment complex, and White was heard on the video yelling, “Do it!” multiple times at the officer. At one point, he appeared to try to get into a police cruiser.
Badgujar’s video shows White charging at him. The officer fired twice and White appeared to yell “Do it again!” before more shots were fired.
Howard County prosecutors said the officer’s actions were justified.
