The New York Times is reviewing the work history of reporter Ali Watkins after her email and phone records were seized by prosecutors as part of a federal leak investigation — and her romantic relationship with a former Senate aide at the center of the probe was made public.
Adding to the intrigue, new accounts have also emerged claiming Watkins was approached last summer by a government official who knew about the relationship and tried to get her help tracking down leakers.
Watkins, who joined the Times in December, had a romantic relationship with then-Senate Intelligence Committee aide James A. Wolfe, 57, that ended last year. Wolfe was indicted last week on three counts of lying to FBI agents and was accused of leaking information to the media. [Read More]
Study: Today’s Dads Are Engaging More With Their Kids Than Ever Before (Daily Wire)
It’s not entirely new. Ever since “Mr. Mom” way back in 1983, dads have been getting their due for all they do.
But a new study finds that dads are more involved with their children’s lives than ever before.
“We found that today’s dads spend more time, provide more care and are more loving toward their kids than ever before,” said Kevin Shafer, Brigham Young University sociology professor and a co-author of the study, according to BYU News. “Most dads see themselves as playing an equally important role in helping their children as mothers do. At the same time, however, there is a group of dads who believe they are to be breadwinners, disciplinarians and nothing more.” [Read More]
Food Stamp Enrollment Dips to Lowest Level in 8 Years (Breitbart)
Overall enrollment in the nation’s food stamp program has dipped to its lowest level in eight years, according to the latest statistics released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The latest USDA data reveals that enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—the federal government program that administers food stamps—dropped to 40,083,954 in March 2018.
The last time enrollment in the food stamp program reached that level was February 2010, when 39,588,993 people participated in the nation’s food stamp program.
Although overall enrollment has reached its lowest point in eight years, food stamp enrollment has been declining steadily since 2013 and has only continued throughout President Trump’s first year in office. [Read More]
ROD ROSENSTEIN TO ASK HOUSE INTEL COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE REPUBLICAN STAFFERS (Daily Caller)
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will recommend that the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence open an internal investigation of its Republican staffers following a damning new report from Fox News, a Department of Justice official said Tuesday.
“[Rosenstein] will request that the House General counsel conduct an internal investigation of these Congressional staffers’ conduct,” the official told Fox News.
The statement was included in a report alleging that Rosenstein threatened to subpoena Republican staffers on the House panel during a closed-door meeting in January 2018. [Read More]
