TRENTON, NEW JERSEY — Republican Governor Chris Christie is expected to announce his plans to run for president on Tuesday.

Christie frequently traveled outside of his native New Jersey in recent months, which many have taken as a sign of his interest in the 2016 election.

Speculation about his presidential bid first surfaced after the 2012 election.

The Republican candidate pool grows even larger as more party members declare their intentions to run.
