National Park in Virginia Remains Closed After Wind Damage

Triangle, VA — A national park in northern Virginia remains closed a week after heavy winds damaged hundreds of trees and created dangerous conditions there.

Crews have cleared more than 600 fallen and hazardous trees at Prince William Forest Park following last week’s wind storm. Workers are continuing to clear damaged trees and restore downed power lines.

Officials expect the 14,000-acre park to remain closed for another two or three weeks.

The park sits off Interstate 95 in southern Prince William County. A few miles north, southbound lanes of I-95 were closed last weekend after winds damaged and bent a massive, iconic sign for Potomac Mills Mall to the point where officials were concerned it could crash and spew debris onto the highway.
