Jamaica-bound Jet Slides On Taxiway At BWI Marshall Airport

Southwest Airlines flight number 906 from BWI to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m., as the aircraft was taxiing out for departure, it turned and stopped near the taxiway pavement edge.

The aircraft remains on the taxiway pavement.

There are no injuries reported.

The aircraft is not moving at this time.

BWI Marshall Airport operations employees responded to the incident scene, along with the BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, and Southwest Airlines personnel.

We worked with the airline to disembark passengers and transport them back to the airport terminal. All passengers are now off the aircraft.

At this time, we do not know the cause of the incident. The incident remains under investigation.

A Southwest Airlines flight bound for Jamaica slid off a taxiway while maneuvering to the runway at BWI Marshall Airport Wednesday morning.

According to multiple media reports, the Boeing 737 slid to a halt, and buses were brought in to ferry the 149 passengers on board back to the terminal. There were no reported injuries.

The airline was making arrangements to put the passengers onto another flight.

The grounded plane, Southwest Flight 906, remained on the taxiway as crews unloaded luggage.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
