WASHINGTON (WMAL) — The arrest warrants for two Romanians were unsealed today by the US Attorney’s Office in DC.

Mihai Alexandru Isvanca and Eveline Cismaru were arrested on December 15th on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit various forms of computer fraud.

Police believe that the two suspects hacked into more than 100 computers at the DC Police Department that were connected to DC surveillance cameras, back in January.

DC Police worked closely with the Secret Service when they discovered the threat on January 12, 2017 to make sure that the cameras were secure for President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“The investigation revealed no evidence that any person’s physical security was threatened or harmed due to the disruption of the MPD surveillance cameras,” said the US Justice Department in a statement. The Metropolitan Police Department’s cameras were compromised for three days, from January 9 to January 12, before the ransomware was discovered.

Isvanca and Cismaru were arrested at an airport in Romania. Isvanca is still in custody in Romania and Cismaru was placed on house arrest.
