How the Governors of Maryland and Virginia Celebrated Thanksgiving

WASHINGTON (WMAL)– While you were busy eating Turkey and all the trimmings, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan posted a letter to residents:

‘As Marylanders across the state come together to celebrate this holiday season, the First Lady and I wish you a safe and joyous time celebrating.

Over the past year, I have so much to be grateful for – my loving wife, Yumi, for her unwavering support and her own personal dedication to our great state, our beautiful daughters and their families, especially our adorable grandchildren, Daniella and Cam, and our family’s continued good health and happiness.

I also want to take a moment to let you know how thankful I am every day for the trust you have placed in me and this administration to lead our state.

For me, being your Governor isn’t just a job – it’s a responsibility that the people of Maryland have entrusted me with and one that I do my very best to fulfill every minute of every day.

Changing Maryland for the Better isn’t just something I say – it’s a promise that we’re committed to making a reality, because all Marylanders deserve a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

I am deeply grateful to all Marylanders for the opportunity to serve and will continue to fight on your behalf every moment and with everything I have.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.’”

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe meanwhile took part in a ceremony honoring the 340th Anniversary of the Treaty of Middle Plantation.

The Mattaponi and Pamunkey tribes delivered an 8-point buck and a 4-point buck. It was part of a tradition dating back to the late 1600s.
