WASHINGTON (WMAL) – Lock your doors while you’re pumping gas. That’s the warning from Prince George’s County Police after thieves snatched items from four different cars this week. Surveillance video from one case at a station on Allentown Way in Camp Springs showed a man wearing gloves get out of a silver BMW seconds after it pulled up next to a car at a pump. He crouched down as he walked up to the passenger side of a car, opened the unlocked door, stole a purse and got right back in the car. It happened in broad daylight at 7:30 a.m. within feet of the woman pumping gas.
Prince George’s County Police said that was one of two robberies at that gas station Tuesday. The same suspects are believed to have robbed other cars at nearby stations, one on Allentown Road and a third on St. Barnabas road.
Wednesday police believe the suspects struck again, robbing two more vehicles while the owners pumped gas.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call 1-866-411-TIPS or 301-868-8773.
