WASHINGTON (WMAL) — Anne Arundel County native 27-year-old Tina Frost remains in a coma but is making progress after being shot in the eye during last week’s massacre in Las Vegas according to family friend Amy Klinger.
“This is gonna be a very long road,” Klinger told WMAL.
Frost, who had to have her right eye removed last week, no longer needs a brain pressure monitor, and she was able to breathe without help from a venitalor Saturday according to posts made on a Go Fund Me https://www.gofundme.com/mary-watson-moreland page set up to help her family with medical expenses and travel.
Even though she can breathe on her own, doctors decided to keep her on the ventilator to save her energy.
Doctors are hoping to get her to squeeze someone’s hand on command this week according to Klinger. Frost could not do that when asked Saturday.
In the meantime, all family and friends can do is wait for her to naturally wake up from her trauma-induced coma, and Klinger said they don’t have any idea when that might happen.
“The days are endless because you’re literally just sitting there waiting,” Klinger said.
Doctors told her family they have no way of knowing the extent of her injuries.
“They say she could wake up with no damage at all, or she could need round-the-clock care for the rest of her life,” Klinger said.
As they wait in anxious anticipation, the outpouring of love, support, prayers and generosity is helping the family get through its nightmare according to another post on the Go Fund Me page. More than 8,000 people have made donations through the crowd-funding website totally more than $460,000 out of a $50,000 goal.
