CHEVY CHASE (WMAL) — Former President Barack Obama may be seen golfing in the Chevy Chase area in the near future.
The 44th President accepted an invitation from the Columbia Country Club, according to an October 4th letter obtained by Bethesda Beat and the Washingtonian.
The letter, sent to current members of the club, reads in part:
“Since we opened our doors in 1898, we have welcomed as members, sitting Vice Presidents, former Presidents of the United States, leaders of Congress, and members of the executive branch, the military and Washington’s diplomatic corps. The addition of President Obama will continue that tradition.”
Obama, who is a frequent golfer, had played at the club previously in 2015, and can be seen doing so in a video posted to Twitter:

Back in January, another potential country club choice for the Obamas became embroiled in controversy when certain members of the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville objected to a possible membership over Obama’s perceived actions regarding Israel.
It is unclear, though, as to whether the Obamas even attempted to join Woodmont at any point.
Another benefit of Columbia over Woodmont – its about a 20 minute shorter drive.
Currently the former President and former First Lady live in the Kalorama neighborhood of Washington D.C. as their daughter Sasha finishes high school at Sidwell Friends.
