DULLES, Va. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection at Dulles International Airport stopped a man from entering the country illegally on Sunday.
The man arrived at Dulles from Ethiopia and presented a CBP officer with a diversity immigrant visa. This visa allows people from countries “with historically low rates of immigration to the United States” to immigrate to the country, according to the U.S. Department of State website.
The officer presented with the visa suspected that the traveler was not the “true bearer” of the visa and sent him to go through more screening.
CBP officers later confirmed that the man’s fingerprints did not match the ones on the application.
The man, whose name has not been made public, was denied entry, but is not facing criminal charges.
