WASHINGTON – (WMAL) For the second time in six months, the National Park Service says someone vandalized the Lincoln Memorial. NPS said the latest case was discovered early Tuesday morning on one of the Memorial’s columns, with “(expletive) Law” written in what appears to be red spray paint. NPS said a nearby wayfinding sign also had graffiti on it.
The memorial was written on with what looked like permanent marker in February, with a message that appeared to say “Jackie Killed JFK” and references to 9/11. Similar graffiti was found on three other monuments as well.
In this case, NPS said they are using a mild, gel-based paint stripper to get the writing off the column.
United States Park Police is investigating the incident.
