ABERDEEN, MD — (WMAL) It’s been five years since the now-79-year-old mother of Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken Jr. was abducted from her home, and police in Aberdeen are marking the occasion by issuing an age progression sketch of the suspect in the still-unsolved case.

Vi Ripken, the widow of long-time Orioles coach Cal Ripken, Sr., was abducted from her home on July 24, 2012, held overnight and returned to the block where she still lives the next morning. Her hands were bound, but she was otherwise not injured by her captor.

At the time, police released surveiiance camera images of a man believed to be the suspect in the case. He was described then as being a white man in his late 30’s or early 40’s, five-feet-ten inches tall, with short brown hair and glasses.

Within days of the kidnapping, Mrs. Ripken’s family put up a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture, but no arrests have been made.

Now, police have posted a new age-progression sketch of the suspect in hopes it will spark some new leads in the case.

Anyone with information may contact Detective John Divel with Aberdeen police at 410-272-2121, extension 132.
