LISTEN: Daily Mail’s DAVID MARTOSKO on Criticism from Press Over Question to President Trump: This is Silly

Listen as Larry spoke with David Martosko, The Daily Mail’s US Political Editor, regarding President Trump’s trip abroad, Martosko’s question to Trump about CNN and more.

During the interview, O’Connor asked Martosko about the pushback he received for asking President Trump about the gif he retweeted featuring the CNN logo:

O’Connor: Were you used by the President today?

Martosko: Oh God no! Look, I had no idea I was going to be called on in this press conference. And the notion that I’ve heard sort of [inaudible] on Twitter that some how I didn’t do a very good job by not being overly aggressive and just going after the President’s head, I think is kind of silly. It’s perfectly acceptable to go to a press conference and ask the President a simple factual question that isn’t confrontational or aggressive on its own. The other kind of questions we heard reporters ask Barack Obama for 8 years.I remember some of them asking him what his New Year resolutions were, what he hoped to accomplish in the coming months and all that. And it certainly wasn’t that. I asked the President of the United States how far he was willing to go to stop Korea from becoming nuclearized, was he willing to go to war. Then I asked him to give us his thoughts on the aftermath of him tweeting that wrestling video and what CNN did about it threatening to out the name of the person they thought was responsible for creating it. These were both news stories that we hot, that our readers certainly care about them and I have not regrets about it. I was also able to ask the President of Poland to justify some of the things he’s done, that his party has done to clamp down on press freedom in Poland and try to grab control of the nations judiciary, which is also a very serious thing the Polish care about. So, this is silly. These were perfectly great questions. I just didn’t come after him with a brick bat, looking to take his head off. I’m just not like that.
