WASHINGTON – (WMAL) House Majority Whip Steve Scalise has been returned to the Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Washington Hospital, according to a release from the hospital Wednesday night. It comes three weeks to the day after the shooting at a Republican Congressional Baseball Game practice in Alexandria.
“Congressman Steve Scalise has been readmitted to the Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center due to new concerns for infection. His condition is listed as serious,” the hospital’s statement read.
There was no immediate word on the type of infection or the course of treatment. The hospital is expected to give another update Thursday.
The last update from the hospital had come on June 23, when they reported Scalise to be in fair condition, beginning “an extended period of healing and rehabilitation.”
