SILVER SPRING – (WMAL) Monday afternoon’s severe storms appear to have hit a Silver Spring neighborhood especially hard. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue reports several trees fell onto houses, wires were torn down and roads are closed in the Northwood Park-Four Corners area of Silver Spring.

Video from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer showed branches strewn all over lawns and roads, huge trees resting on roofs, in some cases slashing through the house, and wires snaking around grass and roads. Piringer said two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a tree slammed into their house. That house, Piringer said, is uninhabitable.
