MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD (WMAL) — Montgomery County Police held a press conference today regarding the shooting death of two teens in Montgomery Village last Monday.
Police captain Derren Frank kept many of the details of the investigation from reporters, but did confirm a few important details that may help piece together what happened that night.
Perhaps the biggest revelation was that police confirmed that there were indeed multiple shooters and that at least one of the victims knew the killers.
Police also stated that they do not believe MS13, a violent international gang with roots in Central America, was behind the attack.
While no motive has been given for the killing as of yet, Captain Frank alluded to the possibility that other students from the victims’ high school would offer insight:
“We believe that there’s probably a chance that there’s someone at Northwest High School that has something they should share,” he said.
He also made clear that the department will offer understanding and “compassion” to people who come forward with information, while also promising to be tough on the perpetrators once found.
The family of one of the victims is currently working to increase the reward for any information that leads to an arrest to $20,000.
