Washington — (WMAL) Former D.C. Councilman Jim Graham has died, as announced by the D.C. Council.
Graham represented Washington’s Ward 1 for four terms as a Democrat from 1999 to 2015.
The Councilmember died Thursday but no official cause of death has been released.
In a tweet sent out on Thursday the D.C. Council said, “Our hearts go out to all who, like us, knew & loved him.”

Current D.C. Councilmember for Ward 1, Brianne Nadeau, also expressed her condolences. She acknowledged his tireless work to better the lives of D.C. residents and fight for LGBTQ rights.
