Mornings on the Mall
Monday, June 5, 2017
Hosts: Mary Walter and Vince Coglianese
5am – A/B/C Theresa May says the internet must now be regulated following London Bridge terror attack. Should the internet be regulated? New international agreements should be introduced to regulate the internet in the light of the London Bridge terror attack, Theresa May has said. The Prime Minister said introducing new rules for cyberspace would “deprive the extremists of their safe spaces online” and that technology firms were not currently doing enough. The Prime Minister made the comments outside Downing Street on Sunday morning in the aftermath of the van and knife attack that saw seven people killed and dozens injured. “We cannot allow this ideology the safe space it needs to breed – yet that is precisely what the internet, and the big companies that provide internet-based services provide,” Ms May said. “We need to work with allied democratic governments to reach international agreements to regulate cyberspace to prevent the spread of extremist and terrorism planning.”
5am – D Bill Maher Apologizes As Liberal Calls For His Firing Grow (Dailey Caller) Comedian Bill Maher has apologized for calling himself a “house n***er” on his HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher.” But that apology many not be enough to quell the liberal voices calling for his ouster. In a statement, Maher said, “I regret saying it and am very sorry.” Many liberal groups have been calling for HBO to fire Maher over the comment.
5am– E Man unleashes bedbugs at city office after not qualifying for benefits
A man in Maine who became upset after being told he did not qualify for government benefits unleashed a cup of live bedbugs at a city office, officials said. The incident took place Friday afternoon and forced the evacuation of the Augusta City Center, according to CentralMaine.com. City Manager William Bridgeo said about 100 bedbugs were released. The building will be sprayed and a bedbug-detecting dog service will inspect the building before reopening Monday, Bridgeo said. The man, whose identity was not immediately available, released the bedbugs after he was told by a city employee that he did not qualify for assistance. The bedbugs were in a cup, which the man slammed on the counter of the office, sending the bugs flying onto the desk and floor. Police caught up with the man and he signed a criminal complaint and a trespass order. More charges are expected, Bridgeo said.
6am – A/B Joe Biden for President in 2020? Do you think he could win? Though former Vice President Joe Biden seemed to withdraw permanently from Oval Office contention when he opted out of the 2016 presidential election, it appears a Biden administration might still be a possibility – albeit, a far-fetched one.
On Thursday, Biden announced the launch of a new political action committee, American Possibilities, which he said is geared toward supporting candidates that have “big dreams” for the country.“This is the history of the journey of this country: It’s one of ordinary people doing extraordinary things,” said Biden in a statement on the PAC’s website. “I believe that as much today as I did when I got elected to the United States Senate as a 29-year-old kid. But we have to remember who we are. At our best, America has always thought big. That’s why the negativity, the pettiness, the small-mindedness of our politics today drives me crazy. We’re better than this.”
6am – C Fox News’ Chris Wallace Confronts Al Gore With His Failed Global Warming Predictions “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace confronted former Vice President Al Gore on his 2006 claim that unless drastic action was taken humanity would face a “true planetary emergency” in the next decade.” Unless we take drastic measures the world would reach a point of no return within 10 years,” which Gore said would precipitate a “true planetary crisis” due to man-made global warming. Wallace pointed out it’s been 11 years since Gore made the claim in his 2006 film “An Inconvenient Truth,” and there doesn’t seem to be a planetary emergency.
So did Gore admit he was wrong? Of course not.
6am – F DC food truck has no food There’s a food truck in the nation’s capital that is trying to raise awareness about world hunger. It’s called the Famine Food Truck. It’s run by Oxfam America, a non-profit with a mission to create solutions to poverty, famine and injustice. Instead of containers of food, workers hand out small boxes of leaflets that have information about the amount of money that’s currently spent on helping people in impoverished countries. Information is also given on how much those budgets could be slashed under the Trump administration.
7am – A/B INTERVIEW – JOE DIGENOVA – Legal Analyst & Fmr. U.S. Attorney to the District of Columbia
TOPIC: Supreme Court rule on travel ban
- The Supreme Court could rule within days on whether to lift a temporary stay on President Trump’s revised executive order banning travel from six mostly Muslim countries.
- This is the White House’s second effort to impose a travel ban. An order issued a week after President Trump took office was also quickly blocked from taking effect. Nationwide protests were held in many cities and airports.
7am – C Two “extreme” parenting styles have been linked to children becoming criminal psychopaths in later life The Norwegian University of Science and Technology interviewed high-security prisoners and found many have a history of either total parental neglect, or rigidly controlling, authoritarian parents. A psychopath is a person who suffers from a chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behavior. They are defined by their lack of empathy and have a tendency to manipulate people without any guilt.
The startling research found that all criminal psychopaths studied also had a history of grotesque physical and/or psychological abuse during childhood. Study author Dr. Aina Gullhaugen commented: “Without exception, these people have been injured in the company of their caregivers.
7am – D/E INTERVIEW – TOM FITTON – president of Judicial Watch
TOPIC: Newly released Clinton emails reveal classified information sent to Clinton Foundation employees
- Judicial Watch today released 2,078 pages of documents revealing more instances of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sending and receiving classified information via an unsecured email server. They also show Clinton’s daughter Chelsea and others involved with the Clinton Foundation receiving special favors from Huma Abedin, the former secretary’s deputy chief of staff.
8am – A INTERVIEW – CATHY HINNERS – Terror expert and founder of Dailyrollcall.com
TOPIC: London terror attack
8am – B/C Theresa May says the internet must now be regulated following London Bridge terror attack.
8am – D CNN host jokes about Indian girl’s spelling: root isn’t Sanskrit A CNN host is accused of making what some are saying is a “racist” remark to 12-year-old Scripps Spelling Bee Champion Ananya Vinay who the host said likely misspelled a word on air because “its root is not in Sanskrit, which is what you’re probably used to using.” Hosts Alisyn Camerota, who made the comment, and Chris Cuomo jokingly asked her to spell ‘covfefe,’ what Ms Camerota called a “nonsense word.” Ananya, who is of Indian origin, was born and raised in Fresno, California and had just been named the 2017 champion the previous evening. An Indian-American child has won the competition every year since 2008, and Ananya is the 13th overall to do so. CNN host calls Trump a ‘piece of s—‘ over response to London attack CNN host Reza Aslan faced backlash on Saturday after calling President Donald Trump a “piece of s—” after a terrorist attack in London left seven dead and dozens wounded. In a tweet on Saturday that was later deleted, the University of California, Riverside professor and host of “Believer” quoted the president’s use of several terrorist incidents in London to justify his executive action barring individuals from several majority-Muslim nations. CNN’s Sally Kohn Wants To Fight Terrorism With ‘Tolerance’ And ‘Political Correctness’ “Political correctness is simple idea everyone should be treated with equal dignity [and] respect. It’s not cause of terrorism. It’s antidote,” Kohn wrote in a series of tweets. “When we make political correctness the scapegoat, we undermine values of tolerance and equality that are ALWAYS our best weapon against hate.” “Of course we can’t snap our fingers make all current terrorists just become more tolerant and respectful,” she conceded. “But long term, do we help future would-be terrorists turn toward respect, tolerance, away [from] hate? Or do we become more hateful ourselves? Our values of pluralism and inclusion and equality are under attack. The answer to terrorism CANNOT be to throw away our values.” CNN Rebuts Claim They ‘Staged’ a Pro-Muslim Shot During London Aftermath In a YouTube video titled “CNN staging the narrative before making report, they are truly Fake News!” it appears that reporter Becky Anderson directs some self-described “Muslim Mothers” to stand behind her as they rally support for London Police, who responded so bravely to the attacks of Saturday night.
8am – E Lace Shirts join the Lace Shorts for men The see-through lace shorts — designed by LA-based brand Hologram City — can be worn with matching lace shirts, creating the illusion of wearing an all-in-one. The all-lace shorts and shirts are double up as a breezy garment for those sweaty summer months where ventilation is oh-so necessary. The lace shorts and shirt combo doesn’t come cheap, though. The shirts and shorts are available for pre-sale for $49 per item. The garments are available in a selection of rather fetching pastel shades, including pink, blue and green.
