STERLING, VA — (WMAL) A JetBlue flight headed for New York’s Kennedy Airport was forced to return to Dulles Wednesday night after it apparently struck a bird.
About 15 minutes into Flight 1808, the captain notified passengers they would have to return to Dulles and brace for impact upon landing.
The plane landed safely at about 10 pm. No injuries were reported, but the Fire and Rescue crew at Dulles spotted a fuel leak coming from the jet, and it applied fire-retardant foam to contain the fuel.

A mobile lounge transported the passengers from the plane to the terminal, where they later resumed their trip on another plane and arrived in New York at around 2:30 Thursday morning.
The damaged plane, an Embraer E190, is being inspected.
