LISTEN: DR. SEBASTIAN GORKA: There are Troubling Trends Within the Turkish Government

Listen as Larry spoke with Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Deputy Assistant to President Trump, regarding James Comey, national security and more.

During the interview, O’Connor asked about the White House’s concern for the Turkish leadership:

O’Connor: Is the White House concerned about Erdogan in Turkey? His recent statements about Muslims going to Jerusalem and his recent consolidation of power in Turkey. He’s not the kind of Turkish leader that we grew to know over decades before his rise to power.

Dr. Gorka: It’s not my mandate to qualify the head of state of a NATO nation. Remember Turkey was one of the most important NATO nations during the Cold War for [inaudible] reasons and for the size of his army. But yes, there are troubling trends, troubling trends. And I think if you look at the decisions that have been taken, the strategic decisions that have been taken by Erdogan of late, they have, in certain cases, painted themselves into a corner. And all we’re asking, all we’re talking about is look who do you want to be your friend. There are some people that you may not wish to be your friend, even if they are offering you help. And there are others who you have been literal allies with, contractual allies with for decades and you may want to stick with those individuals for the foreseeable future.
