VIRGINIA — (WMAL) A 16-year-old high school student at Dominion High School in Sterling was arrested last week after sending out a threat to the school on the social media app, Snapchat.
The Snapchat showed a photo of assault rifles with the text, “You don’t have to come to school tomorrow.”
Loudoun County Sheriff Michael Chapman said a student made the school resource officer aware of the Snapchat May 2 during a lacrosse game.
The student was identified by his username, and officials found him in his home.
Officers determined that the threat was not legitimate, though the guns were secured as a precaution.
The student was charged with writing a threat and is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.
