LISTEN: Prisoner Escapes in Howard County

 

UPDATE 3:01PM: There’s still no sign of Watson. Howard County Police found his handcuffs and waist chain in the hospital’s parking lot next to the van used to transport him to the facility. Some of his white clothing was found in the woods nearby.  Police aren’t sure whether he planned the escape.

HOWARD COUNTY — (WMAL) Police are searching for a prisoner on the run in Howard County.

He was last seen wearing a white jumpsuit and was last seen in the area of Dorsey Run Road and Patuxent Range Road.

The man, David M. Watson, was convicted of attempted murder of police officers in Delaware and escaped during hospital transport.

Howard County Police released a statement on their Facebook page:

Watson was brought from Delaware, where he is currently serving over 100 years for attempted murder of a police officer.

He is also facing charges in Wicomico County, which is why he was brought to the area from Delaware.

He was travelling to the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center for a mental evaluation before his trial when he escaped.

According to police, they do not believe Watson is armed and do not know if this was a planned or impulsive act.
