- Redskins LB Trent Murphy banned for first four games of 2017.Trent Murphy of the Washington Redskins has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2017 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances. Murphy is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games. The 26-year-old has spent three years in the NFL, all with the Redskins. He has registered 15 sacks in his career, including nine last season which was the second-highest total on the team. Murphy’s rookie contract was signed at a four-year, $4.47M with $2.6M guaranteed. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2018. Considering Murphy is in his contract year and 60% of his career sacks came in just one season (last season), it is almost safe to assume that Murphy was taking performance enhancing drugs.
