WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Just two days ago Georgetown University announced the hire of Patrick Ewing as the new head coach of the basketball team.
Today the former Hoyas player and coach of the Charlotte Hornets said he is already prepared to begin working with the team.
“I’m here and dedicated to roll up my sleeves and get to work,” Ewing told reporters at a press conference. “It is my job to help and rebuild the program and try to get it to the prominence that it was at before.”
Ewing said that he would not have agreed to coach college basketball if it weren’t for his love for his Alma mater.
“If it was any other university I wouldn’t be doing this,” Ewing said. “I just thought it was a great opportunity to come back.”
