Listen as Larry spoke with Sen. Mike Lee about House Republicans deciding to pull the health care bill.
During the interview, O’Connor asked Sen. Lee about what should be done now regarding the repealing of Obamacare.
O’Connor: When you say ‘find a way forward’, does that mean it’s time to continue a new approach on repealing Obamacare? Or do you believe what the President has said and what some of your colleagues have said that, “if we don’t do anything it’s going to implode on itself, so let’s just wait for that to happen then we’ll start with a fresh slate”?
Sen. Lee: I could not disagree more with the strategy that says, “let’s just leave it alone, let’s just leave it in place, it’s going to implode on its own”. I understand the sentiment that the system is not working and it’s going to continue to not work even more, but we can’t just do nothing – especially when this is a government created problem. So, us doing nothing isn’t going to fix anything it will just perpetuate a bad problem. What we need to do is pass a bill. Pass a bill that Republicans at both ends of the Capitol and every point along the ideological spectrum of the Republican party can vote for and that’s what we are working on putting together.
