As Snow Showers Dwindle, the Next Danger is Refreezing Roads

WASHINGTON — (WMAL) While snow showers will continue to line the grass for the next few hours, it won’t be adding any inches to the count.

Temperatures in the District and surrounding suburbs are too warm for any further accumulation, and snow on paved services will melt quickly, according to the National Weather Service.

Because of the wet roadways and the expected drop to below-freezing temperatures tonight, roads may re-freeze and turn icy.

While wind gusts today will help dry snow on some roadways, drivers tonight and tomorrow morning should be careful of ice, especially on side roads and ramps.

Roads that appear wet may be covered in sheets of ice.
