Washington — (WMAL) The annual D.C. snowball fight was cancelled Tuesday morning because it turns out that ice and sleet does not make very good snowballs, according to the Washington DC Snowball Fight Association.

Michael Lipin, spokesman for the association, said that the fallen snow is mostly rock and ice, and they “do not want to be organizing an ice ball fight.”

The association organized their first snowball fight in February of 2010 during the snowstorm known as “Snowmageddon.”

Lipin said they are looking at their first non-season if the D.C. area does not see any more snow in its forecast.
