WASHINGTON – A local teenager unexpectedly found himself in the spotlight after being hired as the first ever executive director of the Loudoun County Republican Committee.

“I honestly did not expect it to become this big of a deal, but it’s been fun. It’s been fun for sure,” said 18-year-old Anthony Defazio about the attention he has been getting since the news about his new position broke.

Even though he’s young, Defazio isn’t new to politics. He worked for Del. David LaRock (R-Loudoun) when he was only 16.

“Government and civics have been an integral part to how I was raised, so being involved like I am now really has kind of been just second nature to me,” Defazio said.

The articulate teenager even has business experience. He helps his father balance the books and handle payroll for his business.

As the head of the LCRC, Defazio will create and implement the committee’s plan to get GOP candidates elected in 2017.

He doesn’t know what the future holds but is excited to continue his political adventure.
