5am – D Hillary Clinton calls fake news ‘an epidemic’ with real world consequences. (CNN) – Hillary Clinton, speaking in public Thursday for one of the first times since losing the presidential election a month ago, called the proliferation of fake news “an epidemic.” So-called fake news — often blatant falsehoods passed off online as the truth and spread by conspiracy theorists — rose to prominence around the 2016 campaign and since Clinton’s defeat millions have read “Pizzagate,” a false report spread online that erroneously accused Clinton and her campaign of running a child sex ring at a pizza shop. Clinton said the spread of fake news, which has “flooded social media over the past year,” is a trend that “can have real world consequences.” She made the comments at a portrait unveiling and retirement ceremony for outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.
5am – E Cheerleading recognized by the Olympics as a sport. (Fox Baltimore) — The International Olympics Committee has approved cheerleading as a sport that could soon be competing for gold. According to The New York Times, Tuesday’s committee vote will give organizers at least $25,000 annually, and three years to lay the “groundwork” for an application to be included in the Games. The provisional Olympic status is part of a move by the committtee to include new sports that appeal to younger audiences. Among those that will be included in the 2020 Summer Olympics: skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing.
6am – A/B When It Comes To Christmas Decorations On The House Are You A Grinch or Griswalk?
- Do You See What I See? (Weekly Standard / By Jonathan V. Last) — This class consciousness was so pervasive that it even influenced my taste in Christmas decorations. I grew up in a colored-lights family. But when my status anxiety manifested around age 14, I persuaded them to switch our tree to white lights. I now live on a little cul-de-sac in exurban Virginia that is the exact opposite of classy. My neighborhood features the whole parade of horribles: blinking, flashing lights; inflatable lawn sculptures the size of igloos; one house has an illuminated trio of Star Wars characters posed as the Three Wise Men on the front lawn. And my neighbors love to share. After the first Christmas, when I didn’t put up any decorations outside our house, the lady next door—a sweet, Christian Secret Service agent—presented me with a shiny, four-foot-tall aluminum Snoopy, ringed by blinking lights. I tried to demur, but she insisted not only on giving it to me but helping me set it up, too. I was both touched and horrified. When she moved away, blinking Snoopy went up into the attic, and we went back to having no Christmas decorations. I thought this was perfectly normal. My neighbors did not. Rich asked me about it a couple years ago. “Is there something wrong?” he asked—in a sympathetic, not sarcastic—tone. “Do you just not like Christmas?”
6am – C Terry McAuliffe says his pet chicken named Hillary died right before election. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Thursday his family’s pet chicken named Hillary died right before the election. McAuliffe, a Democrat and a top Clinton ally, was asked about his four chickens in an interview with the Atlantic. “I hate to say this, one chicken died,” he said. “About a month before the election, Hillary died.” “We’ve got Hillary, Jr. now,” he added. “She is bright and fluffy and making a lot of noise and healthy as an ox.”
6am – D INTERVIEW — TREVOR MATICH — Redskins elite long snapper, WMAL’s Redskins analyst and Comcast SportsNet co-host
- PREVIEW: Sun, Dec 11 – Redskins @ Eagles at 1:00 PM
- Redskins-Eagles: The Washington Redskins will try to snap their two-game losing streak and reclaim that sixth and final NFC playoff position from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who leap-frogged them on Sunday. The Redskins (6-5-1) will try to do so in Philadelphia against the Eagles (5-7), who have lost three straight and four of five. Washington won the first matchup in Week 6 at FedEx Field, 27-20. Now, the Redskins go for their fifth consecutive victory over the Eagles dating from December 2014.
6am – E Department of Transportation proposal would let airline passengers make phone calls. Gov’t proposal envisions phone calls on airline flights. WASHINGTON (AP) — Airlines could let passengers make in-flight phone calls using Wi-Fi under a proposal from federal regulators. Flight attendants and others have complained that the calls could be disruptive. But the Department of Transportation said Thursday that it envisioned allowing the calls if airlines tell all customers about the policy when they buy their tickets. That way, customers could make other travel arrangements if they feared sitting next to passengers chatting on their phones. There is a 60-day comment period, and the proposal leaves the door open to the possibility that federal officials could still impose an outright ban. The Federal Communications Commission prohibits passengers from making cellphone calls during flights, but not Wi-Fi calls.

Puzder, 66, is a vocal critic of government regulation and opposes a $15 minimum wage, broader overtime pay and the Affordable Care Act.
- Trump’s labor secretary pick: “I like beautiful women eating burgers in bikinis” / “I like our ads. I like beautiful women eating burgers in bikinis. I think it’s very American,” Puzder told Entrepreneur in 2015. “I used to hear, brands take on the personality of the CEO. And I rarely thought that was true, but I think this one, in this case, it kind of did take on my personality.”
7am – E Maryland Students Outraged After President Defends Illegal Immigrants In Spanish. University of Maryland (UM) students were distressed and demanded an apology after the school’s president stood up for illegal immigrants, and used the Spanish language to do it. The incident occurred Tuesday night, when UM president Wallace Loh delivered his annual state of the campus address. During his speech, Loh took a moment to defend illegal immigrants who attended the school, and used both English and Spanish to do it. Echoing other university leaders around the country, Loh said UM would bar immigration officials from campus unless they had a warrant, and would refuse to share any student information with the government unless required to by a warrant or subpoena. But after his speech, Loh found himself under attack by students during a question-and-answer period. According to The Diamondback, sociology student Ashley Vasquez asked Loh whether he would apologize for delivering part of his address in Spanish, which she said “does not represent the entire immigrant community here.”

8am – B Santa Fat-Shames Boy By Saying ‘Lay Off The Hamburgers And French Fries.’ The boy later ripped up the photo of himself and the snarky Santa. What was supposed to be a happy visit with Santa left a bad taste in the mouth of a 9-year-old boy in North Carolina. That’s because the jolly old fat man reportedly shamed the child by telling him to “lay off the hamburgers and french fries,” local station WLOS TV reports. On Saturday, Anthony Mayse of Rutherfordton went to a Christmas event in nearby Forest City. The family enjoyed a carriage ride and ice skating before ending the night with a visit to Santa. When Anthony finally met Santa face to face, he asked for an iPod Touch and a drone. Then Jolly Old Saint Nick said something that wasn’t so jolly. “When he got done, he said, ‘Lay off the hamburgers and french fries,’” Anthony told the station. “And that really just disrespected me, and I felt awful.” Anthony’s mother, Ashley, was shocked as well. “Very rude. I’ve never seen anything like it,” she told the station. “I was just mind-blown. I wished a million times that we never went.”
8am – C Mick Jagger welcomes baby no. 8. (CNN) Papa really is a Rolling Stone. Mick Jagger has welcomed his eighth child, his publicist confirmed. The 73-year old rocker and his 29-year-old girlfriend, American ballerina Melanie Hamrick, welcomed a baby boy Thursday in New York City. “Mick was at the hospital for the arrival,” according to a statement from Jagger’s publicist. “Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.” Jagger made headlines in July when the pregnancy was announced. He already had seven children ranging in age from 45 to 17. In 2014, Jagger became a great-grandfather when his then 21-year-old granddaughter, Assisi Jackson gave birth to a baby girl.
8am – D INTERVIEW — BRET BAIER – Anchor of SPECIAL REPORT on FOX NEWS CHANNEL, weekdays at 6 pm – shared his thoughts on Trump’s cabinet and discussed his appearance on Seth Meyers last night.
8am – E Donald Trump to Remain Executive Producer on ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ Donald Trump will remain an exec producer on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” which is returning Jan. 2 after a two-year hiatus with new host Arnold Schwarzenegger. MGM confirmed to Variety that Trump has retained his EP credit on the series. The president-elect’s status on the 15th season of the reality series that made him a household name has been a question since Trump launched his presidential campaign in June 2015. In the credit sequence, Trump’s name will air after that of “Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett and before Schwarzenegger, who is also an exec producer of the new incarnation along with Page Feldman and Eric Van Wagenen. The larger issue for MGM, NBC, and the White House is the payment that Trump will receive for the series. It’s unclear what his per-episode fee is, but it is likely to be in the low five-figures, at minimum. NBC has ordered eight episodes of “The New Celebrity Apprentice.” Trump’s fees will be paid through MGM, the production entity on the show, not NBC. MGM declined to comment on the financial terms of Trump’s deal. Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks confirmed that Trump has maintained a financial interest in “Apprentice.”
