WASHINGTON — (WMAL) With less than a week left until the Presidential Election, polls across the country are showing less and less of a difference between Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

RealClearPolitics is a non-partisan organization that complies polls from across the country, showing different angles from the election. The polls on their website show Trump and Clinton to be particularly close, if not tied, across the board.  Tom Bevan, the Co-Founder & Publisher of RealClearPolitics, predicts that the polls will continue to tighten up until the election itself.

“I think what we’re seeing is a pattern among Republican voters who deciding to “come home” now that the election is getting closer,” Bevan said. “You normally get tightening at the end of the race as partisans decide who they’re going to vote for and solidify that, but we’ve also seen some real momentum on Trump’s part in terms of independent voters.”

There is also the question of the levels of enthusiasm voters are feeling now at this point in the election. It affects how likely someone is to, at the end of the day, cast a ballot for a candidate. “Clinton is suffering a serious loss of momentum and enthusiasm with her supporters, and it’s going to continue to cost her in some of these critical swing states,” Bevan told WMAL.

The latest tally shows that about 26 million people have already cast their votes, through early voting or absentee ballots, which means roughly 15 percent of the total electorates. Of this 26 million votes, about 12 to 13 million votes have already been cast in battleground states.
