WASHINGTON – (WMAL) A dog died after she was found in a trash can in D.C.

The dog, presumed to be a Yorkie, was brought in on Thursday, Oct. 20, by someone who found her in their alleyway between Meade Street NE and Lane Place NE.

The dog was over eight years old and suffering from severe medical issues. The veterinarian and medical team at the Human Rescue Alliance decided to euthanize the dog to put her out of her misery.

The Human Rescue Alliance is offering a $2,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.

They hope that the guilty party is charged with a felony act of cruelty, which carries up to five years in jail.

If you have information contact the Humane Law Enforcement Department at 202-723-5730 (ext. 132).
