WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Get ready for rain and potentially a lot of it in the DC Metro area.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch starting Wednesday night through Friday.
Matt Elliot, a National Weather Service meteorologist, says, “The first few rounds of the storms will most likely be beneficial to the area, but it’s going to be the repetitive nature of several storms going over the same area that create cause for flooding concerns.”
Meteorologists say we could see anywhere from 3-5 inches of rain in the area.
“Some areas may see several repetitive rounds of showers from storms,” Elliot said. “Several storm systems are overlapping each other. By this weekend though, the intensity of the rainfall will start to diminish.”
The NWS says a Flash Flood Watch means conditions may develop that could lead to flash flooding, especially along streams and creeks.
