WASHINGTON – The latest jewel in the Smithsonian’s crown opens along the Mall on Saturday – the National Museum of African American History and Culture, but if you haven’t snagged a ticket to get in, you’ll be out of luck.
Free tickets to the opening weekend have already been handed out, and there’s no sense going down to the museum at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW if you don’t have a ticket. Several streets will be closed around the museum, and between the barricades and heavy crowds, it will be tough to get around.
For those of you who can’t get in, here’s a nifty piece of eye candy to enjoy. Earthcam has produced a time lapse video of the museum being built from the ground up:
