If you try to suppress it entirely, and put everyone in a bubble-wrapped society, that’s when people start going nuts and shooting movie theaters. If any of those people that had all of that aggression built up in them had some sort of outlet, I think that we’d have a lot more societal health because of it.”

8am – E SafeTrack forces Metro and Marine Corps Marathon into another transportation plan. (Washington Post) — Organizers of the Marine Corps Marathon on Wednesday announced changes to this year’s event as a result of Metro’s year-long SafeTrack program, which has eliminated extended closings or early openings for special events. The 41st Marine Corps Marathon is scheduled to start at 7:55 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30. Metro has traditionally opened earlier than normal on race day to accommodate runners and spectators, including last year, when service began at 5 a.m. Due to SafeTrack, Metro will not begin service until 7 a.m. this year. The MCM will maintain its 7:55 a.m. start time, but will keep the start line open until 8:55 a.m., a change from previous years. Changes to the course will reduce the time runners spend on Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway. The start time for the Marine Corps 10K has been changed to 9:15 a.m. and the start line for the 10K will be relocated to the Pentagon North parking lot.
