WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Temperatures on Sunday reached 100 degrees, marking it the third consecutive day that the existing record was matched.
The early morning hours dipped no lower than 81 degrees. Just before midnight on August 14th, the temperature went just below 80 degrees, leaving the previous record set in 2002 in tact.
The heat wave, which began last week, brought temperatures of 99 degrees on Friday, 101 degrees on Saturday, and 100 degrees on Sunday making the average temperature for the three days 100 degrees.
The National Weather Service in Baltimore and Washington has issued a heat advisory, which is in effect from 1 p.m to 7 p.m.
