ATLANTA — (CNN) A spokesperson with the Nigerian Olympic Soccer team says Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines will provide a plane for the group after being stranded in the city for days.

The team has made multiple attempts to fly to Brazil for the Olympics. They arrived on July 3 to train, according to their travel consultant.

The charter flight scheduled to take the team to Brazil Wednesday was canceled due to non-payment, according to a team spokesman. The team was originally scheduled to fly out on July 29, but arrangements for plane tickets for the players and staff were not made, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The source said the Nigeria Sports Ministry is in part responsible for booking the tickets for the team to travel.

The team spokesperson said Delta has intervened and will provide a plane.
