WASHINGTON — (WMAL) A former teacher at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School has been charged with three counts of child sexual abuse after allegedly taking up-skirt photos of some of his female students.
Police started investigating 38-year-old Todd Scriber of Gaithersburg in October of 2015 after a 14-year-old female student told her family that Scriber seemed to be taking up-skirt photos of her while she was taking an exam. She didn’t notice until she went up to him to ask a question about the test.
A detective met with Scriber days after the alleged incident and asked if he could look at pictures on his phone. Scriber handed over the phone but tried to get it back after he realized the detective was looking at photos taken of certain parts of the bodies of clothed teenage girls. They looked like they were taken in a classroom. Scriber’s efforts to get the phone back failed. The detective kept it and got a search warrant to check it for more evidence. The girls in the photos were later identified as two 17-year-old students and one 16-year-old. None of them knew their teacher was taking inappropriate pictures of them.
Scriber was put on leave and then let go. He turned himself into police Thursday.
