Frito-Lay Recalls Rold Gold Products

WASHINGTON –(WMAL) Frito-Lay has issued a recall of several pretzel products due to an undeclared peanut allergen discovered in multiple Rold Gold batches.

A Frito-Lay supplier recalled several pretzel products after they were produced with flour containing peanut residue, but lacked the proper labeling distinguishing them as containing the allergen.

The Rold Gold packages affected by the allergen are sold in retail stores, food service providers, and vending customers  throughout the United States.

The affected products are marked as a “guaranteed fresh,” per a  label on the front of the package, The expiration dates range from June 28th 2016 – August 23rd 2016.

Underneath the “guaranteed fresh” date is a nine digit manufacturing code including the number “32” in the second and third positions.

For example, a potentially allergen-containing manufacturing code code look like x32xxxxxx.

The affected products with “guaranteed fresh” dates are listed below:

  • Rold Gold Tiny Twists – 1 oz. , 2 oz., 16 oz. and 20½ oz.
  • Rold Gold Thins – 4 oz. and 16 oz.
  • Rold Gold Sticks – 16 oz.

Rold Gold Honey Wheat Braided – 10 oz.

  • 20 count Baked & Popped Mix — “use by” dates ranging from May 31 – July 26, 2016
  • 20 count SunChips & Rold Gold Mix — “use by” dates ranging from June 14 – August 9, 2016
  • 32 count Fun Times Mix — “use by” dates ranging from June 14 – August 9, 2016
  • 30 count Baked & Popped Variety Pack — “use by” dates ranging from June 14 – August 9, 2016
  • 30 count Hometown Favorite Variety Pack — “use by” dates ranging from May 31 – July 26, 2016

Frito-Lay has not yet received any reports of allergy attacks brought on by the recalled products. Currently Frito-Lay is not recalling any other Rold Gold products.
