WASHINGTON (WMAL) — D.C. Police will continue their search for Relisha Rudd at the National Arboretum today.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier announced this morning that approximately 60 personnel, from both the police force and private, non-profit groups such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, will comb the grounds of the National Arboretum. A dive team will also be deployed to search a body of water at the Arboretum.

Police anticipate that the search will begin today and carry on through the end of the day tomorrow. Lanier declined to comment on any tips that may have led to the Arboretum search, or further details regarding the active investigation.

Lanier did note that police would continue to act on credible information.

“It is not uncommon for people to provide information that they’ve had for long periods of time that they didn’t provide initially that they may provide at some later time,” said Lanier. “It’s also not uncommon for us to find missing children months, weeks, years even after they’ve gone missing.”

Rudd went missing two years ago, and is presumed deceased. She was last seen with a janitor from the D.C. General homeless shelter, who later was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot. His wife was also found shot to death in a motel room.
