WASHINGTON (WMAL) — The Redskins have yet to publicly announce a site for their new stadium, and local jurisdictions are doing what they can to attract the team. The DC government rolled out six new proposals for a sports and entertainment complex at RFK Stadium.

“This new announcement from the District is one of what I expect to be one of many competing proposals offered to the Redskins,” says David S. Iannucci, the top economic development adviser to Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III.

The county is prepared to fight back.

“Prince George’s County benefits from the presence by the Redskins from taxes–particularly amusement tax. We figure we make more than a $1 million per game, plus additional events that are held at FedEx Field,” Iannucci told WMAL. “So it’s a significant contributor to our bottom line.”

Aside from FedEx Field, he says the county has many attractive sites to offer.  After the FedEx Field lease ends in 2027 the county is “more than prepared to talk to them going forward from that point,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chair of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Phyllis Randall says she’ll see what happens next, but her main concern is keeping the Redskins Corporate Office in Ashburn.

“We will continue to be happy as long as they [the Redskins] continue to allow their corporate headquarters to remain in Loudoun County,” she said.
