WASHINGTON (WMAL)– Montgomery County police have charged a Gaithersburg man with a sex offense.
A local woman hired Jose Campos-Gonzalez, 44, as a temporary laborer last week. While working at the woman’s house, Campos-Gonzalez sexually assaulted the woman’s six-year-old daughter, according to police. The daughter reported the sexual assault to her mother after Campos-Gonzalez left.
Over the past week, Montgomery County detectives worked with the victim and her mother to identify and locate Campos-Gonzalez. He was arrested Monday and charged with a third degree sex offense.
Campos-Gonzalez frequented a 7-Eleven convenience store in Gaithersburg looking for temporary employment, and police say that there may be additional victims. The Montgomery County Police Department has a policy of never asking about immigration status.
